Our Chicago Studio has an immediate need for a Designer I. The Designer I performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design techniques for a small project of selected segments of a larger one, under supervision. Capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying standard design techniques and procedures.
Basic responsibilities include:
Assists Project Lead in selecting, designing and/or specifying furnishings, artwork, accessories and plants.
Assists Project Lead in rendering design ideas in form of drawings or illustrations and developing design concepts under supervision of the project designer.
Interprets contracted scope of work.
Assists Project Lead in preparing contract documents for construction and furnishings.
Responsible for CADD set-up of project.
Develops construction document sheets.
Assists Project Lead in development of construction details.
Assists with assembling presentations and "leave behinds" when pursuing new projects.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
3+ years’ experience.
B.A. or B.F.A. in Interior Design from Council for Interior Design Accreditation curriculum or B.A. in Architecture from accredited architectural curriculum (National Architectural Accrediting Board or Canadian Architectural Certification Board).
Experience with commercial/ institutional/complex building types
Experienced with Revit, Photoshop, AutoCAD, Sketch-UP and Adobe Suite.
Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail
Ability to present and articulate ideas and analyses
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity and complex challenges
Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate willingness to take on new responsibilities
Ability to work independently upon receiving direction from others
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) or certification close to completion, preferred.
