Role Overview

As a Development Associate, you assist senior Development staff with day-to-day management of development projects, including support with acquisition, pre-development, pre-construction, construction, closeout, and pre-operation phases. Here are the roles you’ll play:

 

The Reporter
  • Maintain project timelines and ensure milestones are met on time and within budget
  • Provide project status reports to senior Development associates, Investments teams, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and track development budget related to assigned projects or other duties as assigned
The Documentarian
  • Assist senior Development associates in securing the appropriate approvals, certifications, permits, etc. from city and other government agencies as required
  • Maintain and execute project contracts in accordance with department and corporate requirements
  • Manage and share project documents including, but not limited to, discretionary and non-discretionary approvals, covenants, construction documents, contracts/change orders, and closeout documentation

The Liaison

  • Assist in the management of development projects, including the oversight of project contractors and consultants
  • Work with the Investments team to provide due diligence information and feasibility analysis of potential acquisitions
  • Assist in negotiating and drafting contract terms and scope with design consultants and contractors

Your Building Blocks of Success
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate development, design, architecture, construction, or related field
  • Solid 3+ years of experience in real estate development and/or construction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of real estate development and construction process
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail; excellent quantitative and budgeting skills
  • Stellar critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce and deliver effective presentations
  • Superior collaboration skills and ability to manage cross-functional relationships within the organization
  • Expert time-management, prioritization, and multitasking skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, SharePoint and PowerPoint
