Job Description

Maximize market and industry networking to establish strong working relationships and opportunities that are critical to our continued success and growth. Aggressively work with architects, commercial real estate brokers, real estate developers, national chains, franchisees, commercial real estate managers, and owners across the USA and will require domestic travel to potential clients. Create and facilitate business development and sales strategies to establish cross and vertical market prospecting and penetration. Collaboratively works with internal Marketing, Estimating, and Project Management teams to gain support for Business Development/Sales initiatives. Page 2 of 4 Performance goals and metrics will be mutually established to measure the right candidate’s progress and success toward achieving expected results. This is a respected, professional position and requires a highly driven and goal-oriented individual that is comfortable presenting and interacting with executive-level staff and capable of adjusting approach with field staff. The role will report to the Director of Marketing/Business Development & Sales.

Business Development 

  • Create and present strategic sales growth plans
  • Achieve volume and gross profit goals
  • Pre-qualify potential clients and their fit within our business model
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships within market/industry
  • Prospect for new opportunities
  • Evaluate and communicate project scope
  • Understand and support questions pertaining to commercial construction
  • Communicate verbally and in writing directly with project principles
  • Walk proposed jobs and translate into the defined scope
  • Create and present construction project proposals
  • Manage tradeshow booths investments, and other industry events

Cross-functional Teamwork 

  • Work together with supporting internal teams to win new business
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create collateral materials needed to support marketing/sales
  • Motivate and lead others
  • Create and facilitate meeting agendas
  • Use technologies to create new tools and processes to support the project life cycle
  • Collaboratively work with groups of people associated with the project life cycle, especially Marketing and Project Estimating

Data Analysis 

  • Define metrics for measuring performance and reporting
  • Establish pricing based in markets
  • Collect and analyze historical data and apply to new strategies

  • Working knowledge of commercial construction & real estate principles

  • 4 – 7 years in commercial construction business development, sales and/or account management
  • 2 – 4 years demonstrated success selling and developing new business with revenues of $2 million to over $15 million
  • Demonstrated success with selling and influencing architects, commercial real estate brokers, real estate developers, national chains, franchisees, commercial real estate managers, and owners
  • Proven knowledge of at least one vertical real estate market: retail, entertainment, healthcare, industrial or professional office buildings
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow new business within a vertical market
  • Proven experience building and executing strategic business and sales plans
  • Background in marketing or statistical analysis
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Past business development & sales in a mid-level commercial construction company is a plus


  • BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, Finance or Economics
  • MBA preferred, but not required
