The combined company has over 1,500 employees, 122 of which are investment banking managing directors, and net revenue in excess of $1 billion. Our investment banking business is a leader in our core sectors: financial services, consumer, energy, healthcare, diversified industrials and technology.

The Real Estate Group is a part of Piper Sandler’s Financial Services sector focus, which has more than 100 financial services professionals and an industry leading track record of having completed over 300 M&A transactions since January 2016 with an aggregate deal value of approximately $124 billion. Since its formation in 2011, the Real Estate Group has had a role in 79 capital raising transactions across common stock, preferred stock and debt securities that have raised $18.6 billion for REITs and real estate-related companies. Over the same time period, the Real Estate Group has also served as financial advisor to REITs and real estate clients on 27 transactions with transacted deal value of over $8 billion.

We are currently looking for a full-time Associate to join our Real Estate Group in our New York office.

Our Associate position offers a unique opportunity for ambitious professionals seeking to play a meaningful role in our continued growth while gaining significant experience in real estate M&A, debt, and equity. A successful Associate at Piper Sandler supports our Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managing Directors and, over time, starts to develop close relationships with C-level executives at REITs and real estate operating companies. The Associate is also primarily responsible for overseeing and training Analysts.  The Associate will assist in the preparation of valuations, memorandums and analyses for M&A, private placements and capital raising assignments, and will participate in due diligence and drafting sessions for public offerings. The Associate is also responsible for creating pitch books, conducting real estate-related and company specific research, and leading modeling and valuation work.  Real estate- and REIT-related modeling and Excel skills are essential.  Ability to navigate CoStar, Axiometrics, and other real estate-related data services and software programs is also essential. Secondarily, proficiency with ARGUS is important but not required.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree with distinguished academic and extracurricular achievement
  • 2-4 years of experience in the real estate industry, preferably in investment banking
  • Understanding of real estate fundamentals, finance and trends
  • Experience with M&A and both private and public capital raising transactions
  • Excellent analytical, modeling, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail is paramount
  • Strong work ethic with the ability and desire to work long hours
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Strong client management skills
  • Series 79 and 63 will be required soon after initial employment if applicant is not currently licensed
