Responsibilities

As an Associate with Hines, you will assist senior management with all aspects of the real estate development lifecycle, including the design, marketing and construction of ongoing projects, asset management of existing properties, and feasibility analysis of potential development and acquisition opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Provide support for the underwriting of new development and acquisition opportunities in the Calgary market

  • Provide project management support to coordinate functional teams towards successful project completion

  • Participate in the asset management of existing properties overseeing leasing, capital projects, tenant relations, investor relations and communications

  • Monitor project budgets and schedules for significant variances

  • Assist in the marketing and leasing of certain properties

  • Facilitate capital-raising efforts and the marketing of projects to investors, including making certain that all project agreements are properly documented

  • Serve as a liaison and monitor the flow of project information among stakeholders including investors, construction groups, architects, and property management teams

  • Work closely with appropriate personnel to design and implement a marketing plan

  • Develop a constant awareness of market opportunities including the coordination of feasibility, economic and financial analyses

  • Provide support for project design and site selection activities as needed

  • Serve as a member of various project teams as required to facilitate company needs

 


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

 

  • MBA strongly preferred; Bachelor's degree and related experience considered in lieu of post undergraduate studies.
  • Two or more years of related experience in real estate or in a financial analysis role
  • Exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions

  • Perform numerical and financial calculations and analysis including discounted cash flow, NPV and IRR through Microsoft Excel.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Think creatively and contribute to project success.

  • Successfully manage a variety of tasks within a tight time schedule.

  • Demonstrate strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Analyze and interpret various types of data in order to draw conclusions and solve problems

  • Interact with employees, visitors, contractors and business partners with poise and diplomacy

  • Maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies and high-pressure situations

  • Compose business letters, expositions, summaries, and reports, using proper format, punctuation, grammar, diction and style

  • Speak before an audience with confidence, using appropriate communication skills/style

  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working atmosphere among staff

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office software
