Built to Lead Internship Program:
BentallGreenOak is recruiting for an Intern, Environmental and Health & Safety Services as part of the Built to Lead Internship Program. As a BGO Built to Lead Intern, you will be spending 4 months working alongside our industry leaders to help solve real-world challenges in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

The Opportunity:
The Environmental and Health & Safety Services (EHS) Team promotes and manages the health and safety of BentallGreenOak’s employees, environmental protection of our assets, and regulatory compliance of the organization, all in an effort to reduce risk. The Intern, EHS will provide critical support with maintaining compliance of the organization and ensuring that our properties are taking all appropriate action to adhere to environmental regulatory requirements.

What You Will Do:
  • Maintain and manage regulatory compliance of hazardous materials;
  • Maintain and manage environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) information in BentallGreenOak’s Online Risk Information System (BORiS);
  • Assist with managing and tracking employee training requirements;
  • Assist with completion of EHS Compliance Reviews at select properties;
  • Assist with managing the completion of environmental due diligence investigations.

Who You Are:
  • Demonstrated interest in developing a career within the commercial real estate industry;
  • Working towards a degree in environmental studies;
  • Understanding of how to interpret and apply provincial environmental and OHS regulations;
  • Understanding of completing Phase I & II ESAs and Hazardous Material Surveys;
  • Relationship Skills – Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; team player;
  • Organizational Skills – Ability to allocate one’s time effectively and work under pressure; ability to prioritize workload; ability to work at a detailed level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change;
  • Computer Skills – Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs, and a natural curiosity and intuitiveness for learning new applications.
