WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The position is responsible for supporting operational innovation and providing security direction to the business to elevate the company's security posture. An advanced role, the security administrator/engineer, helps deliver applications at scale and with resiliency to support business initiatives. This role is also expected to possess advanced administrative and troubleshooting skills and be knowledgeable about architecture, engineering, and design principles. The security administrator/engineer should be adept at dealing with disparate applications and data systems to maintain the level of rigor required to adhere to business direction. Along with the depth of systems coverage, the role requires planning and design of policies, maintenance, and incident response. 

 

In tandem with security leadership, the security administrator/engineer consistently assesses the threat landscape and adapts quickly to protect the business from risk. They are also expected to have a strong work ethic, leverage analytical and critical thinking, and be skillful at meeting change requests at a moment's notice. Because the role often interfaces with other business units, strong listening, and communication skills are expected.

 

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • Help develop, execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems, particularly Insider Threat/DLP, and Third Part Vendor Security Management.
  • Help design computer security strategy and engineer comprehensive cybersecurity architecture.
  • Identify, define and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to management.
  • Configure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
  • Monitor systems for irregular behavior and set up preventive measures.
  • Plan, develop, implement and update the company's information security strategy.
  • Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
  • Develop and maintain secure, resilient enterprise-grade cloud processes in tandem with architects and system engineers.
  • Maintain a consistent, secure environment using configuration management solutions. Conduct rigorous oversight of security systems and security configuration administration to reduce risk to enterprise systems and accounts.
  • Deploy strong identity and access management (IDAM) controls across applications and computing environments.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance and utilization of scripts (e.g., Python, Ruby, etc.) to support custom extract and transform load (ETL) tools with a security focus for data flow.
  • Actively monitor, assess and recommend tactical and strategic initiatives based on new and emerging threats posing risks to on-prem, cloud, and hybrid computing environments.
  • Manage remediation efforts after security assessment findings outline weaknesses requiring attention.
  • Escalate to security management and business unit leads when points of weakness are discovered.
  • Stay apprised of current and proposed security changes impacting regulatory, privacy, and security industry best practice guidance. Apply learned knowledge across key lines of business, including products, practices, and procedures.
  • Act as a key figure in incident response to track occurrence and resolution, with strict documentation and reporting as well as engagement with security operations and incident response teams.
  • Attend and fully engage in change and project management meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information assurance, MIS or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in security and systems administration across a wide variety of cloud infrastructure, including software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and platform as a service (PaaS).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Power BI for creating reports & metrics dashboards
  • Experience with forensic tools and incident response, especially within Azure environments
  • Solid understanding and experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, scripting languages like Python, and cloud provider ecosystems, MS Azure, and familiarity with others such as Google Cloud, Amazon AWS, and IBM Cloud.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Obsidian, Cylance, Absolute, IntSights, ZScaler, MS Sentinel, MS Defender, and InfoBlox
  • Holds or working toward one or more security certifications including: CCSP, CISSP, Azure Security Engineer certification, and other similar/related certifications
