Reporting to the Senior VP of Capital Finance, the Director/Vice President of Capital Finance will work with the Capital Finance team to initiate, develop and manage debt relationships. Responsibilities include sourcing and closing the financing of a wide range of prospective investments and existing multifamily and mixed-use assets and managing loan covenants and subscription lines for the Company and its Funds. This responsibility includes managing those team members assigned to each transaction.

Location: San Francisco, CA

What you'll do:

  • Secure debt for new investments and refinancing existing assets, including construction, term and bridge financing.
  • Participate in all aspects of placing and closing debt capital market transactions.  Areas of involvement include preparing finance offering memoranda with accuracy and attention to detail; negotiating term sheets and legal documents; managing the due diligence process; and, coordinating with internal asset managers, investment officers, development teams and accountants as well as external 3rd parties (e.g. lenders, attorneys and title companies).
  • Work with team, lenders and legal advisors to source, close and manage subscription line financing.
  • Work with SVP of Capital Finance to identify viable debt sources.
  • Works in collaboration with SVP of Capital Finance to determine long, medium and short-range debt needs.
  • Plays a key partnership and relationship management role with banks, Agencies and other lenders and financial intermediaries.
  • Assist in the management and covenant monitoring of existing loans, lines of credit and debt investments, which generally involves working with several internal departments, including the asset management, investment, development and accounting teams.
  • Research and review financial and market information.
  • Participate in the planning, reporting and communications to investors and lenders.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager. 

Managing Others: 

  • Responsible for managing junior members of the team through the transaction process and with other key initiatives.

 Skills we're seeking:

  • Master of Business Administration preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in real estate, finance or related field
  • Successful track record for developing and successfully managing lending relationships
  • Successful history of negotiating and closing complex project financings
  • Superior leadership skills and abilities
  • Proven ability to develop and successfully manage business initiatives and developments to completion
  • Successful track record for meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities
  • Superior analytical and business planning skills
  • Proven influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to think strategically about various potential investment outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build effective relationships
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment delivering quality work product and measurable results
  • Strong Excel skills and financial modeling experience
  • Good understanding of financial statements
