Our client is a large institutional lender, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team is looking for a Contractor candidate to help support the Warehouse Lending effort.

As one of the top Warehouse Lenders in the US, the Commercial Real Estate Group is the leading provider of credit and financial services to real estate owners, developers, investors, REITs, and investment opportunity funds. The group provides products and services such as construction loans, secured and unsecured lines of credit, and interim financing arrangements for completed structures, rehabilitation and affordable housing loans, and permanent loans for securitization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for commercial real estate underwriting  which includes: 

 

  • Review clients’ due diligence packages (such as client investment memos, third-party reports, market information, sponsor financials, etc), 
  • Prepare asset approval forms for new loans based on review of rent rolls, operating statements and other due diligence materials, 
  • Research/analyze local market data and 
  • Model cash flows.  
  • After performing due diligence and underwriting, responsible for preparing asset approval forms for new loans and recommending to credit whether or not to finance the proposed collateral asset and the appropriate advance. 
  • Additional responsibilities include perform credit analysis and investigation of existing and new prospective real estate clients and counterparties either independently or under the direction of more senior staff.  This includes assisting in preparing credit approval memos for new facilities as well as extension/modification of existing facilities.   

 

 

The candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial mortgage origination, commercial mortgage underwriting, or a combination of both
  • 4 year college degree required
  • Position will require good technical/computer skills to maintain various models, and handle multiple ad hoc requests
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating and underwriting commercial real estate loans
  • Exposure to commercial real estate underwriting and a working knowledge of REIS/CoStar is helpful
  • Good analytical skills and proven real estate industry experience.
  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and accountability
  • Comfortable working in a highly team-oriented environment, while being a strong individual performer in the context of team goals and assigned performance targets
