Job Summary

The Global Capital & Equity Placement Analyst will assist with initiatives being prioritized by HFF’s Global Capital Team, as well as support the Equity Placement business line within the firm. The role will provide functional support to the leaders of both the Global Capital Team and the Equity Placement Business Line, reporting to the Managing Director of Research.

The Global Capital & Equity Placement Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and tracking equity placement transactions and transactions involving international capital, and will analyze and present such data in formats usable by the leaders of Global Capital and Equity Placement business lines, as well as HFF's executive leadership, for both internal meetings and client presentations.

  Main Responsibilities

  • Provide functional support to the Co-Heads of both Global Capital and Equity Placement business lines..

  • Report and track industry-wide foreign capital investment in U.S. Commercial Real Estate assets.

  • Report and track Firm-level production involving foreign capital sources across all business lines and property types (including but not limited to debt, investment sales and equity placement transactions).

  • Report and track Firm-level production in the Equity Placement business line (including but not limited to joint ventures, preferred equity, mezzanine financing).

  •  Collect and monitor Deal Flyers prepared for all global capital and equity placement deals to ensure consistency, accuracy and quality of information.

  • Abstract and report relevant terms for all transactions.

  • Assist in organizing national conference calls and compose/distribute relevant agendas and presentation materials to all team members.

  • Prepare minutes of team conference calls.

  • Serve as primary contact for all data and research relating to Global Capital or Equity Placement requested by members of the Firm, and for producers seeking information relating to responsibilities undertaken by the Analyst.

  • On a quarterly basis, organize Global Capital Team marketing materials including written and visual updates for national and local markets, current pricing trends, as well as relevant deal activity transacted by the Firm.

  • Monitor and distribute high-priority research and news published by third-party research relating to equity placement and foreign investment in U.S. commercial real estate and significant global cross-border transactions and trends.

  • Utilize Captrack, the Firm’s proprietary production and customer relationship management software, and be responsible for monitoring the accuracy and integrity of deal data related to both Global Capital and Equity Placement transactions.

  • In conjunction with both the Global Capital and Equity Placements teams, collect and monitor pitches being prepared across business lines by certain product type members, and ensure best practices are utilized across the Firm.Track travel of Global Capital Team members, ensuring findings are promptly recorded and distributed.

  • Prepare Briefing Books and other necessary research for members of the Global Capital Team in conjunction with meetings with investors both overseas and in the US.


Experience Required

  • 2+ years of work experience in the financial and/or commercial real estate industry
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to work with multiple parties in different locations around the country.

  • Proven ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis in a prompt and value-add fashion.

  • Interpersonal skills - excellent communication skills, (i.e. listening, speaking, writing, presentation skills, etc.); able to competently interface with Firm leadership.

  • Ability to be an independent worker with a team player attitude.

  • Must be self-motivated, team-oriented and capable of handling several tasks simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.

  • Ability to travel on Firm business when required.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, business, mathematics, international relations/studies, or related field. 


Computer Skills

  • Professional proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office including, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.

  • Willing to learn additional software as needed.

  • Office – work with computers, copiers, and scanners.
