This unique opportunity relates to a position within the dedicated investment team for an open-ended real estate investment vehicle investing in diversified core real estate throughout the U.S.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, this individual will represent the fund across all areas of engagement externally and internally, with responsibilities ranging from capital raising with new and existing investors, portfolio construction planning, transaction oversight, asset management oversight, performance attribution analysis and ongoing investor relations.

Specific responsibilities to include:

• Assist in identification and analysis of investment opportunities for the fund
• Actively manage relationships with acquisitions and asset management colleagues to ensure that assets perform and achieve maximum value
• Participate in the valuation, due diligence, and projections on proposed transactions
• Assist Senior Management in preparing and updating market research analyses of the fund’s target markets
• Participate with the senior management in the capital raising process
• Monitor existing investments
• Actively manage assets to maximize short-term return on equity and increase long term economic value
• Assist in the development of processes and guidelines for regular NAV and liquidity analyses
• Review the preparation of property business plans, operating and capital budgets; devise sell/hold strategies for each assigned investment
• Determine and oversee portfolio construction and risk management
• Assist in the preparation of client reporting on a quarterly and ad-hoc basis
• Develop and review refinancing and restructuring strategies, as well as execution and closing on investment re-financings and exits
• Report on performance, budget variances and significant changes in market and property conditions
• Assist in leading the team and collaboration across departments

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
The Assistant Portfolio Manager will have investment experience in Commercial Real Estate and their specific professional qualifications and personal attributes should include:

• A minimum of 12 years of real estate investment experience or related financial services, with emphasis in portfolio or asset management, acquisitions, and/or capital raising
• Strong financial skills with capabilities in valuation, due diligence and real estate financial analysis. The ability to model complex financial structures using Excel and Argus is a plus
• Experience underwriting for and reporting to institutional investor base is a plus
• Market analysis skills to support decisions concerning rent rates, capital improvement programs, leasing strategies and property repositioning
• Strong organizational and administrative skills; attention to detail
• Expertise in a variety of financial concepts, practices, and procedures
• Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of strategic planning
• Proven operational, organizational, project management and execution skills
• Demonstrated financial management abilities both in terms of quantitative and qualitative skills
• Strong leadership and innovative problem solving, decision-making, conflict-resolution and motivational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and formal presentation skills
• A strong work ethic and desire to deliver excellence individually and as a team member
• Team player and collaborator with excellent leadership skills

EDUCATION
BS/BA degree required; MBA or other advanced degree from a top-tier university is preferred
