A NYSE traded public REIT is seeking to add an Analyst in support of both its Acquisitions and Asset Management groups. The Analyst will report to the SVP, Acquisitions and will also support multiple members of the Acquisitions and Asset Management teams as well as the CFO/COO. In this role, the Analyst will contribute significantly to the Company’s investment decisions by providing analytical and execution support for the acquisition, disposition and management of commercial real estate properties.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Develop detailed financial models, utilizing both Excel and Argus, for purposes of underwriting and analyzing the viability of potential investment opportunities
- Prepare investment summaries and present potential investments to team members
- Assist with the creation of detailed investment approval memos for review by the Board of Directors
- Compile, review and analyze due diligence materials to identify, minimize and/or eliminate risks associated with acquisitions
- Manage database of investment prospects and create weekly pipeline status report for review and discussion by senior management
- Assemble and gather market information including rental, sales, and expense comparables through independent field work and direct contact with brokers, appraisers, and developers
- Work with the Company Controller to coordinate funding needs for closings
- Create and maintain lease abstracts to be used by the Acquisitions, Asset Management and Accounting teams
- Support the annual budgeting process by performing asset and portfolio level analytics reporting and compiling portfolio financial projections for use by the Company’s corporate finance team
- Perform periodic asset management analytics reporting
- Develop financial models for evaluating capital projects, lease renewals and renegotiations
- Other assignments as requested on an ad-hoc basis
Additional responsibilities may be added/reassigned/eliminated as needed
Required Skills / Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree with a major in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics or Mathematics preferred.
- Two to five years of commercial real estate analysis experience
- Proficiency in real estate project software (Argus), Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding of basic commercial real estate concepts and valuation techniques
- Strong mathematical skills required to perform financial analysis (IRR, ROE, sensitivity tables etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent planning, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function in a team-oriented setting as well as independently
- Attention to detail and ability to function under tight deadlines
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Ability to handle multiple projects at one time and prioritize effectively
- Strong sense of personal motivation and responsibility
