COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Our client is a New York based real estate firm that is at the forefront of affordable, mixed-income, and market-rate housing and commercial developments.  From the firm’s modest beginning in 1998 as a local development company, the firm has successfully evolved into a vertically integrated organization offering a full complement of development, construction, property management, and financial services.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

The Development Analyst supports the development team by providing financial analysis for all development projects, and financings. Primary responsibilities include underwriting, short-term and long-term cash flow projections, valuations, rate of return analysis, feasibility analysis, leasing analysis, sensitivity analysis, and due diligence support. The ideal candidate has excellent analytical skills and is well versed in the underwriting of multi-family transactions.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare budgets and supporting schedules for development and construction projects.  Obtain information from acquisition, development, construction and leasing departments.  Respond to questions from owners and lenders. Prepare leasing and development fee income from properties under development for the corporate annual budget.
  • Prepare and update cash flow projections for each asset, using Excel, to support potential leasing, redevelopment, refinancing, and/or disposition scenarios.
  • Prepare construction requisitions for outside lenders and investment partners.  Follow up with contractors and vendors and other departments for required documentation and information.
  • Process and pay tenant construction allowance requests.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, budget variance reports, and other comprehensive project reports.
  • Review and code project related invoices and assign to proper workflow for approval.  Manage payment process. Calculate and process development fee invoices for payment.
  • Prepare other reports as requested by owners, lenders, joint venture partners and mortgage bankers for financing.
  • Participate in due diligence process and market research

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing company in a leadership capacity. Our Client is looking for an individual with 2-5 years of experience in a commercial real estate finance role.  The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

Technical Requirements:

  • BS/BA and strong academic record with a concentration in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, and/or Economics.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of real estate financial analysis experience required; working knowledge of multi-family properties preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Working knowledge of Accounting and Finance principles.
  • Experience analyzing commercial real estate development transactions
  • Knowledge of budgeting, underwriting, due diligence, asset and portfolio valuation, discounted cash flows, and analysis of financial statements are required.

  • Results-oriented with strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality work in a consistent manner.
  • Self-starter who has the ability to learn quickly, work independently and as a team member, and complete tasks with minimal guidance in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, organize and coordinate work efficiently, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment.
