JOB SUMMARY


CBRE Heery is seeking an Architectural Principal-in-Charge of an established architectural design office in Denver, CO. The Denver Office specializes in Healthcare Facility Planning and Design, with a limited portfolio in the other CBRE | Heery markets.


The Architectural Principal-in-Charge will have full leadership and management of a 15-person office, including responsibility for sales, project/client development, staff development, and overall financial performance of the office as a profit sector. 


The office and company goals include high-quality design with long-term client relationships, and consistent growth in revenue over an extended timeframe. 


This will be a licensed architect responsible for managing an organization / studio and developing a client base.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Business development

 

Management of org/studio.

 

Oversee design work of studio.

 

Financial management of projects.

 

Client management.

 

Project proposals and contracts.                             

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. May be responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports.  Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination.  Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval.  Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources.  Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising and rewarding performance and retention.  Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

 

 


QUALIFICATIONS

15+ years of experience in this field, including office or studio management, project management, and/or business development leadership responsibilities.with an emphasis and experience in Healthcare or Higher Education planning and design.

Proven Business Development and Sales experience.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (B.Arch) or Master's Degree (M.Arch) from four-year college or university.

Candidates with multiple degrees such as Business Administration, may receive a higher credential.  

 


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Licensed Architect in Colorado or surrounding states, or NCARB certification. Other certifications such as ACHA, LEED, EDAC, etc. which pertain to the skills of the industry, are highly valued.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.


FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

 


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve complex results.  Responsible for setting project, department and/or division deadlines.  Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to line of business and/or overall company.
