PARK, RECREATION AND OPEN SPACES DEPARTMENT CAPITAL PROGRAMS DIRECTOR (Exempt) Salary: Min: $98, 365.54 - Max: $163,501.52 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A minimum of five years of professional administrative experience in the management of large construction projects, construction contracts and construction administration is required. Recruitment Notes: Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS) seeks a candidate with experience and commitment to Design Excellence with portfolio of varied and complex design projects in which candidate has been responsible for managing. Master's Degree preferred, is a Registered Architect or Licensed Professional Engineer with knowledge of the Park and Recreation Department's Open Space Master Plan (OSMP), Smart Growth Principles, LEED practices and working knowledge of GIS/AutoCAD, RS Means and Project Management Software preferred. Management experience with direct supervisorial responsibilities of team involved in design and the management of capital construction projects is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have experience and demonstrated commitment to Planning, Design and Construction Excellence with a portfolio of varied and complex design projects which he/she has been directly responsible for managing. The qualified candidate for the position of division head will work with a highly motivated team of professionals to implement Miami-Dade County Park's OSMP; accomplished in the implementation of best practices in placemaking that guide the design construction of iconic parks and public spaces, the preservation and enhancement of historic sites, the implementation of signature greenways/blueways and providing safe routes to parks. This division head is responsible for the oversight and management of architects, landscape architects, engineers, and construction managers within the Planning, Design and Construction Excellence Division. The Chief of Design and Construction provides leadership, strategic direction and operational guidance in the areas of Master Planning, Design Excellence, Project Development and Implementation of five-year and ten-year Capital Improvement Plans. The successful candidate should possess evident leadership qualities to succeed in effectively mentoring direct reporting team members through the establishment of clearly defined performance standards and work items; the execution of timely performance reviews providing constructive guidance for improvement and development; and the fostering of strong employee morale through the ongoing reinforcement of high expectations in regards to honesty, integrity, openness, teamwork and responsibility. Lastly, the successful applicant will demonstrate an outcome-oriented management style that evidences the capacity to effectively lead, grow and sustain a high level of collaboration, innovation and production, critical to the department's success and sustainable future.
