JOB SUMMARY
  
Responsible for reviewing all due diligence materials presented by underwriters to obtain on the loan secured by a multifamily property in conjunction with the other members of loan committee. Deputy Chief Underwriters have the ability to make decisions as well as execute commitments and conduct rate locks on behalf of CBRE during the entire loan process. Responsible for managing underwriting staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  

Oversee the company's daily Fannie Mae underwriting activities to ensure internal credit quality and investor compliance.

Oversee deal management, tracking and coordination with legal counsel and closing.

Oversee loan document negotiations between Borrower, Borrower's counsel, CBRE legal counsel and Fannie Mae.

Assists the Chief Underwriter in staff development and continuous program improvement. Acts as a supervisor to Underwriting staff; develops proactive strategies for employees, clients and vendor success.

Acts as the primary contact to assist producers and Fannie Mae with relationship management and assists the Chief Underwriter with responsibility for higher level relationship management.

Responsible for the management of overall workflow ensuring that timelines are met and that resulting underwriting will result in loan closings.

Assists the Chief Underwriter in deal structuring and negotiations with Fannie Mae.

Directs oversight management of Underwriting staff for day-to-day work flow for underwriting, assignment, setting work priorities and directs the daily assignments and activities of Fannie Mae underwriting staff.

Develops and implements relevant personnel management policies, training and communication to ensure the efficient operation of the underwriting unit.

Advises the Chief Underwriter on ongoing issues, best practices, risk exposures and recommends actions to minimize risk.

Conducts rate locks. Acts as signing member of Loan Committee with signing authority on commitments on behalf of CBRE Multifamily Capital.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in finance, accounting, economics, real estate or other related subject from a four-year college or university required. Minimum ten years multi-family underwriting experience. Prior Management experience preferred.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

Proficient in common Adobe and Microsoft applications including: Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Knowledge and understanding of the principles and procedures for underwriting and processing of Fannie Mae DUS multifamily, seniors housing, student housing, and affordable housing transactions.

Will be required to travel as needed.

Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to co-workers, supervisor, department and/or line of business.
