SUMMARY

The Manager Financial Reporting manages the financial reporting and technical accounting of the Company as well as the real estate related private equity investment funds the Company manages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall responsibility for development and issuance of Company’s financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A in accordance with GAAP, ensuring appropriate financial statement and footnote disclosures and maintaining support.
  • Preparation of the Company’s reporting requirements, including quarterly and annual reports, SEC Forms, SEC Compliance, offering memorandums, debt covenants, etc.
  • Work with VP of Financial Reporting, Corporate Controller, and Senior Management in defining the key components of a Senior Management performance dashboard, determining where this information exists within the Company, and assessing what systems and tools should be used to collect, consolidate and disseminate the results on a regular basis.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual internal financial reports including performance of analyses of such reports in order to provide Management with concise information regarding the financial activities of the Company.
  • Perform and oversee internal and external fund related financial reporting processes.
  • Responsible for external financial reporting processes and coordination of audit relationships as it relates to the Company’s financial statements as well as the real estate related private equity investment funds the Company manages.
  • Responsible for reviewing materials produced by Investor Relations for accuracy and consistency with the Funds’ books and records and financial statements and disclosures.
  • Ad hoc reporting requests from the Board of Directors, Senior Management or Investors.
  • Research and adhere to latest accounting literature and interpretations in accordance with GAAP and IFRS (GAAP is heretofore defined as both U.S. GAAP and IFRS).
  • Review all new GAAP accounting pronouncements and documents and compute their impact to the Company.
  • Responsible for working closely with Fund Accounting ensuring that the Technical Accounting Manual is continuously updated and related accounting policies are in accordance with the Technical Accounting Manual and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Document and maintain all related technical accounting conclusions and discussions with external auditors.
  • Assess issues and impact of newly issued or newly arising technical accounting matters and manage to conclusions with appropriate inclusion of executive team and auditors.
  • Prioritization of process improvements to enhance financial analysis and entity-level internal controls.
  • Overall responsibility for maintenance of internal control over the Company’s financial reporting processes.
  • Responsible for fund-related financial reporting internal controls and SOX compliance for the Company – including working closely with the Internal Controls group to determine, implement, and maintain internal controls as they relate to fund-related financial reporting. 

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Master’s in Accounting or Finance required
  • Must possess a CPA or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting with a strong preference for a technical accounting role
  • A minimum of five (5) years of financial accounting & reporting experience with a Big 4 with SEC clientele or private Organization required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS. Experience in all facets of GAAP and proficiency in usage of the new codification manual. Will require having specific experience with consolidation issues, loan accounting, real estate owned, commercial mortgage-backed securities and fair value.
  • Knowledge/experience in the Real Estate Industry preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, IF functions, Vlookups, conditional formatting, formulas)
  • Must be systems savvy. Experience with JDE and Essbase strongly preferred.
  • Good understanding of accounting and business processes
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Able to influence people and arrive at practical solutions in a collaborative and constructive manner
  • Highly organized with focus on process discipline
  • Ability to work with and influence people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work as part of a team
  • Must be available for weekend and after hour work which includes and is not limited to responding to emails in a timely manner and completing tasks based on directives given from superiors

WORKING CONDITIONS                                                                                                

 

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop.  The Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines.
