Financial Controller

Galium Capital is a real estate investment, development, and management firm, with over $300M in assets under management.

The firm is looking for an internal accountant / controller, who will be in charge of the following:

Responsibilities 

Finance

• Oversee all accounting functions for multiple real estate entities, including the day-to-day accounting, month-end close activities, financial statement preparation, cash flow management, annual budgeting & tax return preparation
• Working knowledge of property management accounting.
• Provide projections of future income
• Establish and monitor internal control processes required to manage and grow the business.
• Monitor banking activities of the organization.
• Proactively manage and increase cash flow and decrease expenses; make recommendations to C-level executive.
• Oversee and mentor Accounting/Finance staff
• Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
• Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
• Oversee cash management, prepare weekly payables, and assist in the execution of check signing.
• Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of financial and management reports.
• Loan payment and managements
• Be an advisor on any contracts into which the corporation may enter

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• 7+ years of related accounting/finance experience
• Real estate knowledge and experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Yardi
• Ability to follow-up in a timely manner
• Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills
• Previous Financial Statement preparation
• Excellent timely, clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Thrive in a challenging and fast-paced work environment
