RCLCO, a national leader in providing strategic economic guidance to the real estate industry, seeks a qualified Real Estate Associate for our Institutional Advisory Services practice group. Associates join our team as consultants to gain unmatched experience in real estate analytics and exposure to the industry. They work directly with senior firm leadership to provide foundational support for RCLCO’s market research, financial and statistical analyses, and professional reports and client presentations. In addition to experiencing a wide variety of project work, Associates participate in our ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development programs, and also have the opportunity to participate in networking and social events, along with office-wide volunteer days. Team members who demonstrate success in the Associate role will have immediate opportunities for advancement within the firm and take on additional levels of responsibility with our consulting assignments.

As part of our Institutional Advisory Services practice group, Associates work to address the important and unique issues regarding real estate investing faced by institutional investors such as state pension plans, including: 

  • Provide strategic thinking regarding investment analyses, portfolio construction, and management through presentations, articles, and custom work for clients.
  • Developing strategies that maximize value throughout the cycle through the development and implementation of investment ideas, pacing plans, policies, and risk management systems.
  • Providing high quality and forward-looking investment analyses, including review of assets, separate accounts, and funds and programmatic joint ventures that will provide superior risk- adjusted investment returns.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with and alongside senior team members in providing client strategy development and advice regarding portfolio management and construction
  • Assist senior team members in underwriting potential investments on behalf of institutional investors across multiple property types and locations, including the review of cash flow assumptions, pricing, fees, and preparation of discounted cash flow models including complex waterfall fee structures;
  • Work with senior team members to review and select potential investment managers or operating partners by analyzing their track records, strategies, pipelines, financial and operating structures, and by assisting in manager interviews;
  • Research and develop knowledge of industry trends and participants;
  • Interact with and present results to various institutional clients;
  • Write and review regular performance reports to clients;
  • Prepare first drafts of reports and presentations to communicate key findings and recommendations to clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, economics, business, or related fields, or in other fields with demonstrated experience or skills developed in quantitative analysis;
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills in financial modeling and analysis;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting, including the development and analysis of cash flow forecasts using both Microsoft Excel and Argus preferred;
  • Leadership potential, excellent interpersonal skills, and a drive to succeed in her/his chosen profession;
  • Passion for financial and economic analysis, ability to structure quantitative and qualitative problem-solving approaches, and attention to detail and accuracy.

Only candidates local and commutable to Los Angeles will be considered. Relocation is not available for this position.

Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on qualifications.
