Landmark Dividend, the leader in ground lease acquisitions is seeking a Vice President of Closing to support its Closing team at our HQ office in El Segundo, CA. This is an exciting time to join a great team as we grow and expand our business. While we are seeking a candidate with experience in real estate, escrow, legal and/or other practice areas, a law school graduate with critical thinking and strong analytical skills will be considered.

Job Description

The Vice President of Closing will project manage the entire life cycle of a transaction from execution of option to post-closing. You will be the lead coordinator, maintaining full ownership and responsibility for closing, including due diligence, resolving issues, preparing closing documents, disbursement of funds and recording, and accurate and timely reporting of deal progress within our proprietary system and to the Senior Vice President of Closing, to whom this position reports.

Duties

  • Quality check preliminary due diligence packages including leases, proofs of payment, seller application
  • Research property and Seller details using online State and County records
  • Develop closing strategy by identifying submission deficiencies, closing impediments and setting a preliminary timeline
  • Enter and maintain deal specific data and track deal progress in our proprietary system, and provide timely reporting to the Senior Vice President of Closing
  • Order, review and analyze title, survey and other due diligence services
  • Work closely with business teams and third-party vendors to provide timely, accurate and material progress updates, and advise on issue mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and negotiate all closing documents and respond to attorney comments, as necessary.
  • Coordinate execution of closing documents
  • Perform quality check on all executed documents
  • Close transaction and coordinate disbursement of funds
  • Coordinate recordation of closing documents with title vendor

Required Experience

  • One to three years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, particularly in the areas of:
    • Land transfers, including purchase and sales, SNDAs, and lease assignments
    • Title, including chains and gaps in title, CCRs, and lien clearance
    • Survey, including set back and encroachment issues, easements, utilities and access
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills a must
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proactive and results driven
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively provide updates on an ad hoc basis to the Senior Vice President of Closing
  • Escrow, real estate legal, telecommunications, billboard or renewable energy experience helpful
  • Experience may be supplemented by a JD degree and preferably, active standing with a state bar association

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related business experience
