Real Estate Financial Analyst


Company Summary

A well-established real estate investment firm is seeking a Real Estate Financial Analyst. The company’s headquarters are located in Glendale, California with commercial and residential properties throughout the continental United States.


Summary/Objective 

The Financial Analyst will work closely with and support the VP of Asset Management, with a primary focus on collecting and analyzing financial information to: (1) provide an accurate report of property-level and portfolio-level performance; and (2) inform operational decision-making.

The Associate will communicate regularly, professionally and effectively with company management, and will perform required tasks quickly and accurately.

Essential Functions

  1. Generate monthly reporting packages to assist in monitoring property-level performance in all critical areas, including revenue, expenses, leasing, and occupancy.
  2. Evaluate property and portfolio level performance through detailed analysis of monthly budget versus actuals, and quarterly valuations.
  3. Contribute to annual business plans for various properties throughout the portfolio, including operating and capital budgets.
  4. Assist in analysis for asset re-positioning, hold/sell analysis, disposition, acquisition, and large capital projects.
  5. Conduct market research for specific investment opportunities and maintain current real estate market data in target markets.
  6. Assist with due diligence activities for acquisitions and refinancing.
  7. Effectively communicate with internal and external contacts, including financial institutions and partners, consultants, contractors, and accounting staff.
  8. Perform quarterly and annual loan covenant calculations and prepare financial statements to satisfy bank reporting requirements.
  9. Assist in the annual budget process.
  10. Assist with special projects as needed.
  11. Perform internal Yardi rent roll audits.
  12. Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business, with prior work experience in a financial analysis capacity.
  2. 2-4 years of work experience in a real estate financial analysis capacity.
  1. Microsoft suite proficiency. 
  2. Yardi and Excel proficiency.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Working knowledge of Argus and/or Yardi software preferred.
