The Professionals’ Choice for Real Estate Jobs

Perfect Timing

Daniel Pink’s’ latest best seller, “When – The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing,” supports the adage, timing is everything in life. Several Job Board articles advise the best time to apply to a job is 6 to 10 AM or 12:30 to 1:30 PM, which correlates with Pink’s advice to not schedule surgery or appeal a traffic ticket in the afternoon because doctors make fewer mistakes and judges are more lenient in the morning. Many people switch jobs in January, but you have not missed out because this means hiring picks up in February and March. Want your resume at the top of the pile? The largest Canadian Job Board suggests you apply between 11:30-and 12:30 on Tuesdays, because most job seekers apply on Tuesdays at 2 PM. Pink suggests you switch jobs every three years if you’re seeking the biggest salary bumps. Think the moment is now? Pink makes a case against living in the moment, because “we make better plans when we imagine our future selves, and nostalgia deepens our sense of life’s meaning. He says the ideal mindset integrates past, present and future.”
