Description

Position: Junior Project Manager: Design, Construction and Business Development

Matter Real Estate is a growing, entrepreneurial real estate advisory and project management firm based in Manhattan. We are on a mission to build a multi-disciplinary team of exceptional professionals – including architects, engineers and construction managers – to help our clients execute complex real estate projects. We specialize in assisting mission-oriented organizations and property owners to successfully plan and effectively build space that is highly-functional and economical. As we grow our team, we plan to pursue our own real estate development projects in New York City.

We believe that real estate is not just in the pro forma but exists as a place and thing – therefore, having a passion for design and construction is essential to succeed at our firm. We are seeking a Junior Project Manager with an excellent track record of accomplishment, an exceptional work ethic and a desire to learn and grow. The ideal candidate is self-motivated to produce very high-quality work and is driven to take on “stretch” assignments. The selected candidate will play a unique role at Matter since this position’s responsibilities include real estate project management in addition to responsibilities to help us grow our firm. We are seeking a well-rounded individual who is both interested and capable of executing a broad portfolio of assignments.

Required Education and Experience

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or business and preferably at least one year of related work experience in New York City. Previous work experience should demonstrate your ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and mastery of Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.

We welcome candidates from the design and construction industries looking to broaden their real estate expertise. You will be asked to wear many hats and be given an opportunity to gain exposure to multiple aspects of real estate and business management.

Detailed Responsibilities

This is an entry-level position with the potential for immediate growth. The selected candidate will initially be asked to execute internal management and business development tasks, and to assist our project management team wherever necessary. There will be an opportunity to transition into the role of project management if the candidate meets the necessary requirements of skills and initiative.

We don’t expect the selected candidate to have experience in all facets of the role; instead, we expect you to have the relevant foundational skills, tenacity, and diligence to master these skills “on the job.”
